Maynard Ferguson
I have to admit that the first time I heard Maynard Ferguson, I didn't like him! I had a friend that always wanted me to listen to his Maynard records. Eventually I became hooked! The man is incredible! The first recording I ever bought of Maynard's was a cassette of It's My Time. I really enjoyed it. It was his newest release at the time. I remember my high school jazz band performing two of the tunes from that album, Dance To Your Heart and The Spirit Of St. Frederick.
Since that time I have collected a very large Maynard collection. I am always trying to find more and add to it as much as I can. The one thing I really admire about Maynard is his undying energy and love he has for his music. From the very earliest recordings of the late '40's to today, he has had an incredible showmanship that is unmatched. He came out like gangbusters with his phenomenal abilities and hasn't slowed down yet! I believe that Maynard is truly a living legend and I am honored to have seen him live in concert and met him several times. Maynard is THE Boss!
